Tokyo Urban Baby
  • It’s a public holiday on Tuesday 11th Feb in Japan, so many people are taking Monday off and making it into a long 4-day weekend. It’s a good chance to get out of Tokyo and get some fresh air☀️🌸☀️🌸
If you are wanting to go somewhere for the weekend, I highly recommend Kawaguchiko. This is a photo of us walking around the countryside near our hotel. It has an amazing closeup view of Mt Fuji, and a really relaxed atmosphere. My Guide includes online coverage of my trips here with my kids, including kid-friendly hotels and restaurants. If you have any questions please let me know❤️***
P.S. Some people have asked me if masks are available in Japan. Unfortunately they are sold out in all the shops and convenience stores that I’ve seen. There are some available online, but expensive......

We arrived yesterday but won’t hit Tokyo for a week or so. One outing in Narita and I can already tell that this guide will be super useful!
Cheers

  • Are you planning to visit Tokyo with your kids? Maybe you've been to Japan before, but this will be the first time with a baby? 🌸
🌸
I understand how daunting it can be to travel in Japan with different customs, language, and etiquette. Let alone with a baby in tow! 🌸
🌸
I have been living in Japan for over 15 years and I've been through it all - trying to find the baby-friendly cafes, not knowing where to change diapers, trying to carry my stroller down the stairs at the station. The list is endless!
🌸
🌸
That's why I created my Guide! To ensure you don't make the same mistakes that I have, so you can enjoy Japan with the least stress and the most fun! 🌸
🌸
My guide includes the Tokyo Guide ebook PLUS bonus members section and interactive map including my latest Kyoto Guide, Japanese Baby Food Guide, Hotel Guide, Airbnb tips, how to dress your baby for the seasons in Japan, stations to avoid with a stroller, advice for catching the trains with a stroller, awesome hidden playgrounds parks and rooftop gardens, nursing rooms and locations to change diapers, baby-friendly cafes and restaurants, and much more! 🌸

  • T i p ! Are you visiting Kyoto? Make sure you visit Kodaiji Temple! The famous courtyard with the weeping cherry blossom is absolutely beautiful🌸
🌸 The cherry blossoms in Kyoto are usually in bloom around first week of April. BUT Extra tip!! - this cherry blossom tree is in a courtyard with lovely warm sun, so it is usually one of the first cherry blossom trees to be in full bloom in Kyoto! (Last year when we we there, this tree bloomed BEFORE the other cherry blossoms in Kyoto, such as along the River).
Make sure you see my blog post “How to enjoy Kodaiji Temple with kids” - click on this link below to see the full video and my tips! 💕

  • Happy New Year!

Can’t believe it’s 2020!!! It’s going to be a HUGE year with the Tokyo Olympics! SO exciting!
Looking back on 2019, it was another big year for Tokyo Urban Baby. I published the new Kyoto Guide and the new 4th Edition of the Tokyo Guide. Thank you so much everyone for all your support and encouragement! I started Tokyo Urban Baby in 2012 when my first baby was born, so I'm thrilled that my blog posts and guides continue to help mums and dads with enjoying Japan with their children.
Personally, in 2019 my biggest highlight was visiting Kyoto in the cherry blossom season. It was absolutely stunning! The cherry blossoms are truly amazing in Kyoto, so make sure you go there if you are visiting in early April. May is also a gorgeous month with the purple wisteria in bloom. Don't miss it!
If you have any questions about your travel to Japan with your kids, please let me know! Much love, Kate

  • T i p ! It’s getting cold in Tokyo! Winter has arrived! ❄️ ⛄️❄️
It’s still lovely in the sun, so I recommend trying to play outside with your kids in the sun during 10am-3pm. But as soon as the sun goes behind the clouds it’s freezing!! So make sure you always have a winter jacket ready! My kids have been complaining about having cold hands in the early morning too, so it’s a good idea to have some gloves and don’t forget your footmuff (sleeping bag) for your stroller.
Enjoy this winter weather and especially the illuminations for Christmas! .
