Shibuya Excel Hotel Tokyu – child-friendly and in central location!

Do you want to stay in Shibuya when you visit Tokyo?

I highly recommend staying at the Shibuya Excel Hotel Tokyu!

Key Points:

1.Great location

Shibuya is one of the HARDEST places in Tokyo to navigate with a stroller. Why? Because there are so many staircases (not many elevators) and it is extremely hard to understand which direction you are heading!

For many many years I would always get lost in Shibuya! There are so many exits from the station (both JR and the underground) and so many train lines, it can be very confusing! Let alone with a baby and stroller in tow ><

What I have learned is that a) it’s best to stay in a central location close to the station and shops, and b) it is good to know where the elevators are.

I guarantee this will reduce your stress (especially going to and from the airport, and after a day of sightseeing).

The great point about the Shibuya Excel Hotel Tokyu is that it is located immediately outside the main exit (next to the famous Shibuya Crossing intersection). AND it is located near the new elevator to the underground. Awesome!

2.Amazing views

The Shibuya Excel Hotel Tokyu has the most amazing views of Shibuya (and Tokyo) and the famous Shibuya Crossing intersection down below.

Make sure you book a room with a view (I found a late minute deal which was awesome, but I didn’t have a view of the Shibuya crossing. So if you want to enjoy watching the busy Shibuya crossing from your room while your baby has a nap, I recommend getting a room with a view).

The restaurant on the 25th Floor that serves breakfast also has an amazing view. So make sure you go up there for breakfast!! It was crowded when I got there with my kids, but luckily I got a table by the window. So make sure you ask for a table by the window if you want to enjoy the view while you are eating breakfast.

The cafe next to the lobby was also wonderful. I sat at the window counter seats with my kids and we had fun eating ice-cream and cake while watching the Shibuya crossing down below.

3.Convenience

The Shibuya Excel Hotel Tokyu is located right above the Mark City shopping center, so there are LOTS of restaurants and shops in the same building.

This was great because it was actually raining when we were there, so I didn’t want to go outside and get wet. So I went to the restaurant in Mark City for dinner with my kids. It was great!

And of course, the hotel has extra convenience because it is located next to Shibuya crossing, so it is a fantastic spot for sightseeing. This is especially convenient if you have a baby or kids in tow, because you don’t need to walk far to enjoy Shibuya (even at night time, which is great if your kids have jet lag).

Oh and they have early check in at 2pm! This is super wonderful if you have kids. If you’ve just arrived from the airport, your kids will likely be exhausted. So an early check in is always welcome.

Tsubame Grill had meat balls (like rissoles), roasted potatoes, and lots of other dishes. So there was plenty to choose from for the kids.
