Cheap child-friendly Guesthouse in awesome location in Kyoto

I stayed at this guesthouse in Kyoto this year. It was fantastic!

Key Points:

  • This is a small apartment with your own key
  • The apartment is fully equipped with kitchen, fridge, microwave, washing machine, cooking utensils, plates and cutlery. So you can stock up on food and cook in the kitchen. This is great for saving money as well as enables you to cook for your kids. Particularly convenient if you want to cook baby food for your baby/toddler!
  • Great location in the heart of Kiyomizudera temple and the famous Sannenzaka steps (which is fantastic so you can walk up the steps to the temple at sunrise and sunset)
  • Close to restaurants and cafes on the main street between Sannenzaka and Ninnenzaka steps
  • Easy check-in (there is a locked box at the front entrance, so you can easily get your key to your apartment if you arrive late).

Make sure you check it out if you are looking for a hotel room with a kitchen!

Kyoto Guesthouse lock box

When you arrive, you can pick up your key from the locked box at the entrance of the guesthouse. This is convenient so you can easily enter if you arrive late at night (the front desk closes at 5pm)

Microwave, fridge etc in kitchen is very convenient!

The kitchen also has a stove and amenities, and a kettle! I enjoyed making cups of tea in the morning and evening:)

Kyoto Guesthouse bathroom

The bathroom was great – the bath had a TV! My kids enjoyed watching the TV while taking a bath!

Kyoto Guesthouse bedroom

Our room had a double bed. I actually pulled the mattress onto the floor and we slept there (so I didn’t have to worry about the kids falling off the bed!) There is plenty of space for a porta-cot if you have one. They also have bigger apartments (twin, triplet beds) available.

The bedroom also has a table and chairs and a TV and aircon

The guesthouse is located just to the right of the Sannenzaka Steps in this photo
