Haneda Airport

3 Tips for Haneda Airport with Kids

If you are planning to travel to the regional areas of Japan from Tokyo, you will most likely catch a plane from Haneda domestic airport.

Here are some photos of our recent experience in Haneda Airport on our trip to Hokkaido!

3 Tips:

  1. Book in advance – make sure you book your domestic tickets well in advance to get a cheap flight. As you know Japan has a huge number of public holidays, so there is a possibility your trip will coincide with a 3-day weekend in Japan. If that happens, it really drives up the prices as everyone wants to travel! Check the calendar for public holidays and either try to avoid the busy periods, or book in advance to get a relatively cheaper ticket before the prices rise.
  2. Snacks – Make sure you buy snacks or souvenirs before going through the security check. Once you are inside the departure terminal, there are not so many shops. So it can be a good idea to be prepared before you pass through security. This is especially important as some of the domestic flights don’t offer any food on the menu.
  3. Kids facilities – Check the map once you are inside the terminal as there are kids play spaces, baby nursing rooms and diaper changing facilities. These are fantastic to entertain and prepare your kids!
