Kodomonokuni “Kids Country” is a huge natural kids park in Kanagawa, perfect if you are living in Tokyo and want to escape the city to let your kids run around in the countryside.
It is literally huge, with playgrounds, animal farm, trains, roller coasters, and BBQ areas.
With 2 toddlers, we only got as far as the playgrounds this trip, but definitely want to visit again and see the animal farm (apparently you can milk the cows and cuddle all the little animals like guinea pigs and rabbits).
- Hours: 9:30a.m.-4:30p.m.(5:00p.m.in July & August)
- Closed on every Wednesday, Dec.31 & Jan1. Open on Wednesday when it is a national holiday.
See more details at the Kodomono kuni website
You can see from the photos below how beautiful and green it was!
And I must say, coming from Australia, I was impressed with the big shady trees so your children can play happily under the shade and protected from the sun.

Tree-lined path from the station to Kodomono Kuni

You can get to Kodomono kuni easily by train – they even have their own train station! This is the entrance/exit to Kodomono Kuni Train Station

If you have a stroller, there is a ramp to walk over the river to get to the entrance

Ticket gates to enter Kodomono Kuni

There’s lots of shade at the park, so even on hot days you could definitely enjoy going there

Big garden at the entrance

Toddler train

Cute little toddler train that does a little loop around the playgrounds. It has good shelter under the roof, so it is a nice break from the sun if it’s hot

This was a fantastic playground for toddlers and parents under the shade of a huge tree

Awesome playground for toddlers

Beautiful little picnic hut under the trees

You can even bring your tent! Great way to relax and spend the whole day at the park

My daughter LOVED running around on the free grass

Lovely tree-lined hills

Beautiful picnic spot

Another fantastic playground, but it was in the sun so it was burning hot!

Big green slippery slide

The waiting area was under shade!

Big train that goes around the park

Tunnel that you can walk through to go to the animal farm. Unfortunately we ran out of time, but want to visit the animals next time!

Happy 4 year old! Had a great time at the playgrounds and on the trains!
