Did you have a “maternity leave resolution”?
It’s like a New Year’s resolution, but something you aim to achieve while on maternity leave with your baby?
I did.
For many, maternity leave is like an extremely unique opportunity to do something important. Something important for YOU. Something that you have always dreamed about, but never had the time or energy to do before. Something that has been in the back of your mind for so long, but you have been so busy that you haven’t ever had the chance to think seriously about it. Until now.
It could be starting your own business, writing a book, or learning a new language.
Now believe me when I say – I understand completely that raising a baby is like a full-time job (and a huge and rewarding achievement in itself). I also understand that it is exhausting, and that the only time you have for yourself is when your baby takes a nap. And even then it may only be for a few minutes.
But you know what?
You can achieve amazing things in just those few minutes.
You could sketch an outline of your new product. You could write a few sentences of your new book. You could learn 5 new words of your new language.
And little by little, these little achievements each day add up and can help you achieve even more than you ever dreamed possible.
For me, my maternity leave resolution this year was to launch The Tokyo Guide (my first resolution after the birth of my first baby was to launch this website!).
But I must admit, it has been hard this time round. It is hard to find the time. Even to find just those few minutes to focus. I have a 3 year old and a 6 month old baby, and often just when one baby falls asleep the other wakes up! This year has also been particularly challenging as my husband has been away overseas for 6 months for work. I didn’t realise how hard it is on your own. Particularly with a 3 year old that refuses to go to sleep at night. But that is another story…. 🙂
So, with only a few weeks left of 2014, I am writing to you to tell you that I will not be posting any further updates this year on Tokyo Urban Baby.
I am going to spend every spare minute that I have on achieving my maternity leave resolution – to launch The Tokyo Guide.
I am SO excited to show it to you!
Do you have a maternity leave resolution? How are you achieving it? Or if you have already achieved it, how did you do it?!
Please write below the post or send me an email. I would LOVE to hear from you!
Thank you so much for all your support and I look forward to posting soon about the launch of The Tokyo Guide!
xx Kate

Good luck! Looking forward to seeing your Tokyo guide. I admire your energy and ambition. This is a great website that I often recommend to friends visiting or moving to Tokyo. I am sure your new project will be just as great if not even better.
Thank you Rachel!
