I received this question from one of our readers and thought I’d share it with you in case other mums and dads are also in a similar situation.

Hi Kate!
How are you? Always my go-to person!! I am moving to a bigger apartment (yay!) next month. I have to entertain my daughter (she’ll be 7 months then) ALL day outside our place as it’ll be too dusty/dangerous for her while the movers are there. Any suggestions where I can go? I’m especially concerned for how she can rest. She needs some quiet time in the day or she’ll get over-stimulated.
Thank you SO much for any suggestions!
Hope you are well!

Thanks for your email! That’s exciting that you are moving to a new apartment! We also moved when our baby was 6 months old. I remember my husband did most of the work as all of my time was spent entertaining our baby! In terms of places to go to hang out and rest in Tokyo all day long, here are my Top 3:
1. Roppongi Hills – this is one of the best baby-friendly places to go in Tokyo, particularly after the new renovations. Roppongi Hills has 4 baby nursing rooms, one of which is a family room that contains a padded area for crawling babies and tummy time, and a separate area for toddlers and older kids. There are also lots of cafes, restaurants, shops, as well as the Tsutaya/Starbucks on the corner which is a fabulous place to relax and read a magazine while baby is taking a nap.
2. Tokyo Midtown – it has 3 nursing rooms, including a family room which has a carpet area where babies can crawl around. Midtown also has a park outside where you could have a picnic or baby could crawl around if the weather is nice. There are also cafes (including Starbucks and Dean and Deluca), restaurants, bookstores, and lots of fashion shops. Midtown is also relatively quiet compared to other places, so it can be quite relaxing to hang out there with a baby. The only problem with Midtown is the access – there are no elevators or escalators all the way up, so you have to go out the Roppongi Hills exit and walk across.

There is also this lovely green Japanese-style garden behind the park at Tokyo Midtown – great place for a stroll with baby
3. Daikanyama T-site – this is the place I spent alot of my time during the first year after my baby was born. I LOVE this place! It has a modern nursing room, Starbucks, Ivy Place for lunch, a kids room on the 2nd floor of the 1st Building (behind the kids DVD section), and there is also Bornelund where babies can enjoy playing with all the toys.

Don’t miss this secret kids area on 2nd Floor in the 1st Building of Daikanyama T-site – wonderful place for babies and kids of ALL ages to play (hidden behind the kids DVD section)
Hope this helps and all the best with the move!
Hi!
Where is this park at Tokyo Midtown’s? What is its name? I like it so much, but there are many in tokyo! I could not find it. Thank you!! Daniele
Hi! The park is directly behind Midtown (outside the entrance to the Ritz Carlton building). Here is a link to the Midtown website which shows the location of the park. http://www.tokyo-midtown.com/en/facilities/ Hope this helps! Kate

Also is there for hire pram in tokyo? We’re traveling there in a couple of months but thinking not briniging our pram. Your thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks so much
