Hi Kate, I am thoroughly enjoying your blog!! My husband, mom and my 2 boys are traveling to Tokyo and Aso in a couple of weeks from USA.
Since finding your blog I have taken so many notes already about baby food and places to visit when we are there….we can’t wait so excited!!!
I did have a quick question I couldn’t find on the blog, regarding stroller (pram) rental in Tokyo. Do you know of any place that would rent a double stroller?
Thank you for all your hard work and for putting out such great content!!

Thanks so much for your message! That’s exciting that you are coming to Tokyo! I’m so glad TUB is helping you plan your trip:)!!
Most Japanese parents rent strollers online. Here is a good one with double strollers (1,800yen for 1 week).
You might be able to ask your hotel to arrange the rental for you and add the cost to your hotel bill. This way you could have the pram delivered to your hotel, ready for when you arrive;)!
Another option which is very popular among Japanese parents when traveling in the city, is to carry their baby in a sling, and then borrow a pram at the department store. All big department stores have this service, so it is a great way to relax, walk around looking at the shops, and have some lunch.
Hope this helps! Have a wonderful trip:)!
hi..i am interest to rent a double stroller as i will be traveling to tokyo on May 11, 2014 for 1 week. Would appreciate ur advise on the rental charges & how to go abt it. plan to stay at hilton tokyo bay. many thanks.
Hi Phoebe, thanks got your message. That’s exciting that you are traveling to Tokyo soon. The double stroller in the post above costs 1800yen for one week rental. You might be able to ask your hotel to book it for you (as the website is in Japanese). If you have any troubles please let me know!
Do they make you fold up the stroller on the subways and trains? I have a 1 and 2 year old, and with shopping bags and such, I’m concerned we won’t have enough hands if they make us fold it up! Thanks!
Hi Rina, you don’t have to fold up your stroller on the trains or subway, but you may be asked to fold it up on the bus. All the best! x Kate
