Here is a SPECIAL PREVIEW of our photo shoot here in Tokyo of the House of Wandering Silk scarves, one of the beautiful products that will be available on our online store. You may recognise the model, Carmela Fleury – previous TPG coordinator and model for our H&M Maternity Wear Fashion Shoot!
Tokyo Urban Baby is very excited to be the first to offer House of Wandering Silk scarves to customers in Japan!
- Each scarf is one-of-a-kind and handmade from upcycled, vintage saris and hand woven silks and cottons in ikat, floral and geometric designs.
- The scarves are made using two layers of fabric, handpicked for their fabulous colours and designs and paired piece-by-piece. These layers are stitched together in the style of Indian kantha, in which women hand sew rows of tiny running stitch from end to end to provide strength and enable the recycling of saris. This kantha stitch creates a rich, rippling effect across the fabric and adds a unique texture to the products. Each piece is completely unique.
- The scarves will be available in large and medium sizes, perfect for mums and mums-to-be!
More videos of how the scarves are made and also an exclusive interview with model Carmela Fleury coming up soon!
Thank you so much Carmela for modeling the scarves for us! We really appreciated you making the time to come to the photo shoot with your baby and for always being so lovely and relaxed. We understand it is not easy to make commitments when baby is still so young, so we are truly grateful! Thank you!
Also a big thank you to my sister-in-law Izumi who was the videographer for the photo shoot. All of the shots were amazing! Thank you also to Ima for being so patient while mummy was taking videos:)!
