Following on from yesterday’s SPECIAL PREVIEW of the House of Wandering Silk scarves for our online shop, today’s preview – the collection of exquisite baby blankets! Super cute filming of Carmela’s 3 month old baby – I particularly love the ones of his little legs! SO adorable!
House of Wandering Silk baby blankets are handmade and each piece is unique. One side is a patchwork of hand-picked fabrics, and the other is a section of upcycled sari. Blankets are padded with several layers of soft cotton, then stitched together in the style of Indian kantha, in which women artisans from West Bengal hand sew rows of tiny running stitch from end to end to provide strength and enable the recycling of saris. This kantha stitch creates a rich, rippling effect across the fabric and adds a unique texture to the products.
These gorgeous colourful baby blankets are sure to turn heads in Tokyo. Perfect for the stroller, picnic, or as a quilt or throw to brighten up baby’s room.
Thank you so much Carmela for “lending” us your beautiful baby to model the baby blankets for us! Hehe. He is SO adorable!
Also a big thank you to my sister-in-law Izumi for the beautiful videos. You are very talented Izumi! Love your ideas and how you captured such cute images of Carmela’s baby on the blankets!
