Last night I went to the Tokyo LOVE Show – the official launch of the Keep A Breast Foundation in Japan. It is an exhibition showcasing breast casts by famous artists from around the world, with the objective of raising breast cancer awareness. My pregnant friend Carmela was a castee for the artist Hiroko Ueki (the beautiful white cast) – Hiroko describes the cast “Look through the peep hole in the chest to Carmela’s heart. It says “I’m here“. It was such a beautiful concept, it made me cry! The casts combine sculpture, charity and personal expression. Over 100 artists from around the world contributed to the event, brought together by the curator Yasha Young, with the theme ‘LOVE’ chosen symbolising a universal language.
