House of Wandering Silk

Are you a stylish mum (or “hot mama” as they say in Japan!), but finding it hard to find the time to dress up in the morning?! These beautiful scarves are perfect for throwing over your shoulders and dressing up simple tops and leggings. They are from the House of Wandering Silk, an Eco-Fashion House developed by my friend Katherine from university in Japan. Each scarf is unique, handmade by women in West Bengal in India. They have the most beautiful eye-catching colours and designs. The best part is this business has a fair trade policy, helping the women who made these scarves & their families out of poverty.

Also check out the House of Wandering Silk Facebook page – there are lots of photos of all the scarves that are being made and explains the story of how this business came together.

When I ordered my scarves, I had a look at the selection on the Facebook page and emailed Katherine with the colours and patterns that I liked, and she emailed me back with some suggestions and photos of some the scarves that matched my description. There are hundreds of scarves to choose from, and each one is unique, so this was a great way to make a choice! I am so happy with the ones I chose:-)
